About Wes
Wes Dickinson is a guitarist for Cherry & James, blending tasteful country twang with soulful rock textures that add depth and versatility to the band’s sound. Originally from Nixa, Missouri, Wes picked up a guitar at just nine years old after his uncle showed him a few chords — and he’s been hooked ever since. His go-to instruments include a Duesenberg Starplayer and, when the song calls for it, a Telecaster delivering that classic country bite.
Wes’s musical influences span a wide range, from the raw storytelling of Colter Wall, Tyler Childers, Jason Isbell, and Charles Wesley Godwin to the timeless musicianship of John Mayer, The Beatles, and Eric Clapton. Outside of Cherry & James, he performs solo acoustic shows and serves on his church’s worship team, experiences that have helped shape his feel, restraint, and musical intuition.
Offstage, Wes works as an occupational safety consultant and enjoys working out, collecting watches, and woodworking. He’s married to his wife Christy, and they’re eagerly anticipating the arrival of their first child in January 2026. For Wes, the best part of being in the band is the joy of playing live — especially when the crowd is locked in — and his current favorite song in the set is “Hard to Handle” by The Black Crowes.
